The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Aiken focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
South Aiken came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 65-56 win over Airport. The victory was just what South Aiken needed coming off of a 78-49 loss in their prior contest.
South Aiken's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrence Smith, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ladontae Felton, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Aiken came up short against the Gators on Friday and fell 63-53.
South Aiken's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Aiken, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
South Aiken came up short against the Fighting Green Hornets in their previous meeting back in January, falling 64-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Aiken's George Brown, who scored 23 points along with two blocks.
