Two dominant players in Jeremy Dietz and Noah Mccoy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays will head out on the road to square off against the Marion Center Stingers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Conemaugh Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully Marion Center likes a good challenge.
Even though West Shamokin scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, Conemaugh Valley still came out on top. Conemaugh Valley took their contest against West Shamokin 80-67. Given Conemaugh Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while West Shamokin is ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conemaugh Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Percinsky out in front who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Percinsky is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dietz, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marion Center's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 73-48 loss at the hands of Conemaugh Township. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Marion Center has suffered yet this season.
Conemaugh Valley pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.4 points. As for Marion Center, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Conemaugh Valley barely slipped by Marion Center in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 54-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Conemaugh Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
