The Grimsley Whirlies put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Northern Guilford, posting a 49-6 win on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Leading Grimsley to victory were Mitchell Summers and Faizon Brandon. Summers rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, while Brandon threw for 196 yards and five touchdowns. Summers hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Terrell Anderson was in the mix as well, providing Grimsley with two touchdowns.
Grimsley's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. As for Northern Guilford, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Grimsley will be playing at home against North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Mecklenburg is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Northern Guilford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
