Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.) 28-8 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Dominick Heads to
Jarrod Carter in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 6-0 at the half.
University expanded its lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. UHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Tevin Epps.
The Wildcats' standout player in the win was
Xavier Johnson. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.
The Comets' lone touchdown came on an 80-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
Coming into the game University had allowed 28.3 points per game this year. UHS held firm on the defensive front, and kept Westchester well below the 19.2 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which WHS took, 48-24.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Wildcats, which was coming off a 38-14 defeat at the hands of Fairfax in its previous game.
In a Western game next week University (2-5) takes on Venice, and Westchester (2-5) will go up against Palisades also in a Western game.
