The Denton Broncos pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Lake Dallas. While losing is never fun, Denton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Lake Dallas is ranked 193rd).
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Walker, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Thomas, who scored 12 points.
Denton's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-14. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.67 points. As for Lake Dallas, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Denton will head out on the road to face off against Richland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Dallas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Birdville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
