The Clayton Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Heritage Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Monday, Clayton made easy work of Rolesville and carried off an 8-1 victory.

Autumn Joyce was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Jenny Clement was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Clayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rolesville only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Heritage made easy work of Leesville Road on Friday and carried off a 14-6 win. With that victory, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Lydia Bollinger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Bollinger was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Langdon, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Janiah Vargas also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Clayton's record now sits at 3-0. As for Heritage, their record now sits at 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clayton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clayton came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clayton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
