Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur). They snuck past the Auburn Riverside Ravens with an 80-76 victory on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Golden Gators as they're now sitting on three straight.
Decatur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dar Mcjimpson Jr out in front who went 5 for 10 on his way to 26 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Mcjimpson Jr a new career-high in assists. Sam Corbett was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Despite the loss, Auburn Riverside still got an impressive performance from Chase Quinlan, who shot 7-for-10 from deep and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emediong Ukpe, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.
Decatur's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Auburn Riverside, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11.
