The Scotland Fighting Scots will head out on the road to challenge the Westover Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Scotland sitting on four straight victories and Westover on six.
Scotland posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They breezed by Lee County on the road to the tune of 65-37. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Scotland did.
Scotland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Lampley led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyland Harrell, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Westover was able to grind out a solid victory over E.E. Smith on Friday, taking the game 60-48. Given Westover's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while E.E. Smith is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scotland's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Westover, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
Scotland came up short against Westover in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-45. Can Scotland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
