Avery Griffin made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lexi Vaughan Howerton and Aubrey Lynn Corum did most of the damage at the plate: Howerton scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Corum scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Corum is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Brunswick Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.
