Basketball Recap: Lafayette's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Lafayette won the last time they faced Jefferson County, and Tywan Williamson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lafayette Hornets were the clear victor by a 78-52 margin over the Jefferson County Tigers on Thursday thanks in part to Williamson, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Miller, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos McBride, who scored 13 points.

With the win, Lafayette broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Jefferson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Jefferson County, they and Community Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Jefferson County is facing Community Christian at the right time seeing as Community Christian is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
