Buckeye is 1-6 against Jena since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buckeye Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Jena Giants at 7:00 p.m. Buckeye knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Jena likes a good challenge.
Buckeye pushed their score all the way to 49 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 56-49 to Marksville. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (47), Buckeye still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Adam Brodnax, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolt Vercher, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Jena put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Caldwell Parish at home to the tune of 60-7. The result was nothing new for Jena, who have now won five matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Buckeye's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Jena, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Buckeye was taken down by Jena 42-13 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Buckeye have more luck at home instead of on the road?
