Derby led Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Haysville Campus.
South's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Justin Stonebraker threw for 61 and one touchdown and Zach Nachbar had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Cody Busby chipped in 149 yards. Ryan Fox helped South's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Cody Bazil made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Colts fell to the Panthers. The 5-foot-7 senior grabbed one sack.
6-foot-0 quarterback John Becker of Haysville Campus is the league leader in passing yards this season with 594. He has also thrown one touchdown. On the ground, the Cougars' Busby has rushed for 680 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nachbar. The South star has 13 catches for 274 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Hutchinson and Derby. The Salt Hawks comes into the matchup ranked 23rd in the state, while Brandon Clark's team ranks second.
Mike Schartz's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,763 from 11,441. The improvement was the result of 49-0 victory over the Colts last week.
