Delaware County Christian is 0-10 against Dock Mennonite since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will host the Pioneers at 3:00 p.m.
Delaware County Christian is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Calvary Christian Academy. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Delaware County Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maryn D'Antonio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dock Mennonite). They never let Calvary Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won six games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Dana Delamater was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Delamater was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Avery Kutzner was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Landis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Dock Mennonite's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Delaware County Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.
Delaware County Christian might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Dock Mennonite in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
