Cascade's batters probably weren't too happy with Annie Prince, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up two walks). Prince has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mattie Maxey was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Community hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade struck out 19 times.
Zion Christian Academy might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to Lawrence County, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leighla Rains was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Community pushed their record up to 22-2-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Zion Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Zion Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Community's way against Zion Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March, as Community made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Vikings/Viqueens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
