The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies will challenge the Capital Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mountain will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Rocky Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked 21st at the time (Rocky Mountain was ranked 15th). The Grizzlies came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 12-7 on Thursday.
Megan McCormick and Danica Quinn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McCormick pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Quinn tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, McCormick scored a run, while Quinn scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. What's more, McCormick posted three RBI, the most she's had over her last 12 contests.

In other batting news, Rocky Mountain let Aubrey Sorensen and Tayler Klozcko run wild. Sorensen scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Klozcko scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave Klozcko a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Singelyn, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Rocky Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Capital was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Timberline. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost three in a row.
Rocky Mountain's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-6. As for Capital, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rocky Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocky Mountain might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Capital in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Grizzlies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
