Two dominant backs in Blaine Burke and Mason Teague are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Moody Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southside Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Moody unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Leeds by a score of 24-21.
Charlie Johnston put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Ka'darius Barnes was another key contributor, picking up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Southside can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Alexandria 49-21 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Teague got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 271 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Teague really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Bryan, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Moody's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Southside, their win was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Moody took their victory against Southside in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 35-13. Will Moody repeat their success, or does Southside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
