Hudson Valley recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Horace Mann, who took down 82nd ranked Harvey, 27-14.
Forman was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Hudson Valley. Earlier in the week, the Lions defeated Sacred Heart 16-6.
Forman's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Thomas threw for five yards and Bryce Benza had five yards receiving. On the ground Isaiah Grooms chipped in 60 yards. David Randazzo helped Forman's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
Benza made the biggest impact on defense this week as Zack Zampaglione's team topped the Irish. The 6-foot-6 senior grabbed one interception and grabbed one sack.
New York Military Academy's Austin Pagano and Jabari Wells have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pagano has thrown for 125 yards this season, while Wells has six catches for 73 yards. Grooms from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 843 yards.
The Lions moved up to 570 from 613 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Horace Mann climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Cavaliers 27-14.
