Tioga took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Stanley Blue Jays with a sharp 10-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.
Katie Haakenson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Haakenson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Tioga got a big performance out of Piper Moberg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Piper Wonser, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Stanley is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
