Notasulga moved up to 264 from 295 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A Region 4. A 28-6 win over the Blue Devils helped the Blue Devils improve their standing.
Wadley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gaston, 22-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bulldogs.
Kamaury Avery was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 190 yards on 20 carries as Wadley defeated the Bulldogs. Teammate T L Heard added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
Cedarius Alexander put up the best numbers through the air as Notasulga fell to Lanett. He finished with a total of eight completions for 122 yards and one touchdown. Alexander's favorite target this week was Bishop Burnett, who caught two passes for 42 yards.
Calhoun was the best wideout in 1A Region 4 this week as Darrel Roach's team defeated Gaston. Calhoun tallied three receptions for 67 yards. Devin Freeman helped Wadley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 10 yards.
St. Jude Educational Institute's Tony Minefield and John Hawkins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Minefield has thrown for 635 yards this season, while Hawkins, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has nine catches for 260 yards. Marlon Page from James Lucas's team leads the league in rushing with 601 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Winterboro takes on Loachapoka. The Bulldogs are in third place, while the Indians are in fourth place.
Winterboro was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Dave Nurnberg's team triumphed over Dave Nurnberg's team 48-30.
