Patterson is a perfect 3-0 against Mountain House since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Patterson is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Friday, Patterson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-21 to East Union. Despite 92 more yards than the Lancers, the Tigers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Patterson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dasen Pettis, who rushed for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Jace Johnson, who picked up 41 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mountain House's strategy against Sierra on Friday. The Mustangs strolled past the Timberwolves with points to spare, taking the game 28-10. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Mountain House's win came from a few key players Patterson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Erin Foster, who rushed for 123 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 22 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (127.8). Another back making a difference was Jacoby Johnson, who rushed for 111 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountain House was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Patterson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mountain House, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Patterson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 181.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mountain House struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 215.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Patterson strolled past Mountain House in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 37-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
