The Trinity Catholic Celtics are taking a road trip to face off against the North Marion Colts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Catholic has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 4th.
On Saturday, Trinity Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Englewood and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Celtics have lost by just one run.
Trinity Catholic got a good showing from Luke Cheshire, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Trinity Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt North, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Brian Rudman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
North Marion not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th. Everything went their way against Providence School as North Marion made off with an 11-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Colts as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Harper Galavis, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Collins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
North Marion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
North Marion's record now sits at 7-9. As for Trinity Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trinity Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Marion struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Trinity Catholic came up short against North Marion when the teams last played back in February, falling 5-1. Can Trinity Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
