It was a good run, but the Wall Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hill City. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Wall still got an impressive performance from Paige Kjerstad, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Kjerstad has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Nora Dinger was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Wall's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Hill City, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wall's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lyman at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Lyman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 461 points over their last seven contests. As for Hill City, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Custer at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Custer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Hill City is ranked 22nd).
