Softball Recap: Morris Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Morris's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Herscher Tigers a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Redskins have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Mylie Hughes's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Macie Ferguson and Halie Olson did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Olson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Olson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Karson Dransfeldt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Morris is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Herscher, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6.

Coming up, Morris will venture away from home to take on Sycamore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Herscher, they will square off against Coal City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
