The Brownell Talbot Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weeping Water. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 52 points.
Avery Nichols and Abbi Gibbs certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Nichols scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Gibbs dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 38.3% of Brownell Talbot's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nya Ping, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Weeping Water's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kalison Miller led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds. Brinkley Mcadams was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Brownell Talbot's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Weeping Water, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Brownell Talbot will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heartland Christian on Tuesday. As for Weeping Water, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sterling on Thursday.
