With a playoff game on the line, Pompano Beach rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 56-54.
It was another big night for Jonathan Berwig, who scored 26 points along with six assists and five steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Mason Rowan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy took their match on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 68-37 win over Coral Springs Charter. Given Calvary Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Coral Springs Charter is ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pompano Beach's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Calvary Christian Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.
Pompano Beach took a serious blow against Calvary Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 69-11. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pompano Beach was down 45-8.
