The Crestview Cougars will take on the Lucas Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lucas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crestview, who comes in off a win.
Crestview's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Central Christian with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Drew Spoerr made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Crestview is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-12 otherwise. Spoerr was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kayn Patton was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crestview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Tyson Ringler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Lucas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to Hillsdale.
Anthony Fanello was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Crestview's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lucas, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Everything went Crestview's way against Lucas when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Crestview made off with a 15-2 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Cubs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
