The Dolores Bears were the 52-44 winner over the Rangely Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Dolores falling 62-48.
Dolores' loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Michael Rantz and Jonathan Purkat. Rantz scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Purkat scored 12 points. Rantz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Koby McClellan, who scored eight points.
Rangely's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Bollinger led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Tristan Scott was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Dolores bumped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rangely, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Dolores will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against North Park at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully North Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Saturday. As for Rangely, they will be playing at home against Nucla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nucla presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rangely in Colorado (Nucla is ranked 32nd, while Rangely is ranked 142nd).
