Lewis Cass is 0-10 against Wabash since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lewis Cass Kings will head out on the road to take on the Wabash Apaches at 7:30 p.m. Lewis Cass is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Wednesday, Lewis Cass strolled past North Miami with points to spare, taking the game 46-31. Given Lewis Cass' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while North Miami is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kinsey Mennen was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Aftin Griffin, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Wabash pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Manchester by a score of 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Wabash has suffered yet this season.
Wabash's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryleigh Boggs, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Kierra Wilson who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kiana Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Lewis Cass has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Wabash, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's game: Lewis Cass have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Wabash, though, as they've only made 35.5% of their threes per game this season. Given Lewis Cass' sizeable advantage in that area, Wabash will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lewis Cass and Wabash were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but Lewis Cass came up empty-handed after a 46-45 loss. Can Lewis Cass avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
