Webber has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Wayne City Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Webber will be strutting in after a win while Wayne City will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, Webber beat Red Hill 54-44. Given Webber's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Red Hill is ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wayne City's 26-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a hard 48-30 fall against Mt. Carmel on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wayne City in their matchups with Mt. Carmel: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tanner McNeil, who scored 12 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was James Walker, who scored two points along with five assists and three steals.
Webber's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Wayne City, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Webber lost to Wayne City at home by a decisive 71-52 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Webber avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
