The Graham Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Eastern Alamance Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Graham has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Graham fell victim to Southeast Alamance and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-0 to the Stallions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Stallions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Williams as they made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Carley Boggs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Boggs was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Eastern Alamance got a massive performance out of Brylea Warren, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Warren also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Rachel Byrd was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Eastern Alamance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Eastern Alamance's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Graham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Graham might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Eastern Alamance in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
