Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends MAST Charter II's Winning Streak

MAST Charter II dropped their record down to 8-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 11-8 to the MAST Community Charter Panthers. The Voyagers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Chris Moran made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for MAST Community Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On MAST Community Charter's side, Tommy Zazulak and Mason Haldeman were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Zazulak tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Haldeman pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Zazulak went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Haldeman went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. In other batting news, MAST Community Charter got a big performance out of Armando Taglianetti, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Taglianetti is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). David Kondravy was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

MAST Charter II does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for MAST Community Charter, they will challenge Faith Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
