Cyprus and Taylorsville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Pirates will welcome the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Taylorsville will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Cyprus extended their winning streak to four on Friday. Everything went the Pirates' way against Kearns as they made off with an 11-1 win. 11 seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Dj Oveson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Cyprus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Taylorsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over Murray on Friday. Taylorsville's win was all the more impressive since the Spartans were averaging only 3.31 runs allowed on the season.
Taylorsville let Holden Cottle and Brex Romney run wild. Cottle went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Romney went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Romney is becoming a predictor of Taylorsville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Matt Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Taylorsville, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Everything went Cyprus' way against Taylorsville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Cyprus made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
