The Blackfoot Broncos entered their tilt with the Rigby Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Blackfoot made off with a 43-42 win over Rigby. The win was all the more spectacular given Blackfoot's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Rigby is ranked sixth).
It was another big night for Marlee Pieper, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaci Capson, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Rigby still got an impressive performance from Kambree Barber, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The contest was Barber's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Graham, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Blackfoot has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Rigby, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackfoot will face off against Thunder Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Thunder Ridge is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Rigby will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Highland at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
