The Bakersfield Christian Eagles came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Independence with points to spare, taking the game 77-62. Given Bakersfield Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Independence is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from AMARIUS "AR" ROWEL, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of DAVIAN LEON, who scored nine points.
Bakersfield Christian pushed their record up to 18-10 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Independence, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8.
