Bogue Chitto (Miss.) had a big 20-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 34-7 victory over
Salem (Tylertown, Miss.).
The Bobcats scored on a
Brock Roberts touchdown pass to
Brandon Wells, a
James Blackwell touchdown run and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.
Bogue Chitto was up 27-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Roberts touchdown pass to
Germie Martin in the first quarter.
BC expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bobcats scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by Roberts.
With the win Bogue Chitto extended its winning streak to six games. BC defeated the Bulldogs 19-15 last week.
The Bobcats' most effective player was Roberts. He threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Wildcats' lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
Salem came in surrendering 12.0 points per game this season. SHS struggled against Bogue Chitto's offense, which entered the game scoring 30.0 points per game. BC came into the game allowing 7.0 points per game. The seven points that the Tylertown school ended with were well below its average of 23.2 coming into the game.
The Bobcats also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 39-14.
The loss comes after Salem defeated Cathedral 14-12 last week. The loss snapped the Wildcats' 3-game winning streak.
In a 1A Region 4 game next week Bogue Chitto (6-0) takes on Hartfield Academy, and Salem (4-2) will go up against Hinds County Agricultural also in a 1A Region 4 game.
