Deerfield hadn't done well against Satanta recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Deerfield Spartans walked away with a 78-68 win over the Satanta Indians. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Deerfield was led to victory by Michael Lira and Adriel Clymer. Lira dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Clymer went 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lira a new career-high in steals (four). Cristian Botello was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight assists and five boards.

Deerfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Deerfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Satanta, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deerfield will venture away from home to take on Elkhart at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deerfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season. As for Satanta, they and South Gray will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
