The Lakota Raiders will take on the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Lakota was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Joseph Central Catholic on Wednesday. The Raiders blew past the Crimson Streaks 12-2. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.

Grant Bomer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Grant Scherger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Hunter Sweeney was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Lakota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, St. Mary Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Hopewell-Loudon. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one run.
Austin Gill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Wikel, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Mary Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Lakota, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
St. Mary Central Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lakota hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for St. Mary Central Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Lakota's hitters?
Lakota was able to grind out a solid win over St. Mary Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 8-5. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
