Shae Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Timberlake got a big performance out of Alannah Winland, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sadie Green, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five contests, St. Maries finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They came up short against Potlatch, falling 12-2. The Lumberjacks' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
St. Maries saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Averie Baird also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
St. Maries' loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Timberlake, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Timberlake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Maries struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Timberlake's way against St. Maries when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Timberlake made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Lumberjacks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
