Pickens hasn't had much luck against Greer recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Flame will face off against the Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. Pickens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Pickens took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Berea a 17-0 shutout. While the Blue Flame didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Henery Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hernandez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Pickens: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lewis Martin was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Wilson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pickens hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Greer had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They came out on top against the Devildogs by a score of 7-2. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Pickens' record is now 7-5. As for Greer, their record now sits at 10-3.
Pickens might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Greer in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Flame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
