8A District 6 recap November 19, 2013
Plant was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Boone. The Panthers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Plant added to the longest winning streak in 8A District 6 this week by beating the Braves, 42-3. The victory was the sixth in a row for Robert Weiner's team.
The Panthers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Colby Brown threw for 150 and 2 touchdowns and Clark Miller had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Patrick Brooks contributed 102 yards. Brooks helped Plant's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 20 yards.
Brooks was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 102 yards as Plant defeated Boone. Teammate Jake Buxton added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Brown of the Panthers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,218. He has also thrown 25 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Auden Tate. The Wharton star has 44 catches for 765 yards.
Accruing a total of 13 touchdowns this year, Chase Litton has thrown for 1,966 yards with 9 interceptions.
Plant took down Andy Johnson's team 42-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brown in the win.
