Bonny Eagle is 2-8 against Scarborough since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Scots will venture away from home to challenge the Red Storm at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bonny Eagle barely beat Windham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Scots blew past the Eagles 11-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scots.
Lucas Klehn and Gavin Saucier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Klehn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Saucier tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. At bat, Klehn went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Saucier went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Canaan Wood was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Secord, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Scarborough had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Sanford as they made off with a 13-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Red Storm sure are getting used to it with their 14th in a row dating back to last season.
Erik Swenson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Wellman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Fallona, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bonny Eagle couldn't quite finish off Scarborough in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
