Deep Run has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Atlee Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Deep Run focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
Last Monday, Deep Run was beaten by Cosby 75-45. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Deep Run has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Adam Aldinger, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Quentin Morgan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Atlee came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 52-23 win over Armstrong at home. Given Atlee's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Armstrong is ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deep Run bumped their record down to 4-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Atlee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Deep Run barely slipped by Atlee in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 51-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Deep Run since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
