Softball Recap: Covington Wins Going Away Against Bartlett

Covington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bartlett on Monday. The Chargers blew past the Panthers 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kinslee Hamm was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Hamm was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyv Cromwell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kale Wheeler, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.

Covington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Covington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Bartlett, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Looking ahead, Covington is taking a road trip to take on Brighton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bartlett, they will host Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
