AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -
Avondale (Auburn Hills, Mich.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 8 points, drop to two before the final whistle blew on a 21-19 victory over
Lahser (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Michael Johnson in the second quarter, the Yellowjackets led 14-7 at the half.
Avondale saw its 7-point halftime lead fall to one entering the fourth.
Spencer Smith was the top performer for AHS. He ran for one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Auburn Hills school's close 10-7 loss to the Knights last season.
The loss comes after Lahser defeated Hazel Park 43-22 last week.
