Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pathway Christian, Unity Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over the Morning Star Academy Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in November of 2024, they had to take a 37-26 defeat.

Nathan Woessner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Thomas Hayes was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the loss, Morning Star Academy still got an impressive performance from Isaac Yowell, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 19 points along with eight boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Ray, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Unity Christian's record now sits at 3-7. As for Morning Star Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing East Moline Christian the next time they take the court. Unity Christian will head out to face East Moline Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Morning Star Academy will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on January 17th.
