The North Fort Myers Red Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cape Coral. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Fort Myers in their matchups with Cape Coral: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, North Fort Myers still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Newson, who scored 23 points along with two steals. That was a full 39.7% of North Fort Myers' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonyo Major-jackson, who scored seven points.
Cape Coral can attribute much of their success to Joseph Silva, who scored 16 points along with four blocks and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Silva has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Felix, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
North Fort Myers bumped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Cape Coral, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Fort Myers won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Venice at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Venice is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Cape Coral, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oasis at 7:30 p.m.
