Basketball Game Preview: Neshoba Central Rockets vs. Vicksburg Gators

Neshoba Central is 9-1 against Vicksburg since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Neshoba Central Rockets will square off against the Vicksburg Gators at 6:00 p.m. Neshoba Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.

Neshoba Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Starkville, who was ranked 11th at the time (Neshoba Central was ranked 20th). Neshoba Central lost to Starkville on the road by a 64-46 margin on Saturday. The Rockets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jiar Henry, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Shastyn Lewis was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Vicksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Columbus.

Neshoba Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Vicksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Everything came up roses for Neshoba Central against Vicksburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 76-37 win. Does Neshoba Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vicksburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
