If the Jefferson Academy Jaguars were feeling good off their 44-21 takedown of the Forge Christian Fury last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jefferson Academy took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pumas on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson Academy in their matchups with the Pumas: they've now lost three in a row.
Jefferson Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elsa Nygren, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Rylin Chichirico who scored nine points along with two steals. Nygren has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.
Leading Peak to Peak to victory were Megan Wagner and Alexandra Eschmeyer. Wagner scored 14 points along with three steals, while Eschmeyer almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Eschmeyer has scored at least a third of Peak to Peak's points.
Jefferson Academy dropped their record down to 9-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Peak to Peak, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson Academy will take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Bennett: 26.8, the Jaguars: 29.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Peak to Peak, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Skyview's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
