It was a good run, but the Arcanum Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to Tri-Village at home by a decisive 46-32 margin. Arcanum lost against Tri-Village in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 66-31 score last time.
Arcanum's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Gibbons, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Miller, who scored six points.
Arcanum's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Tri-Village, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcanum will take on Mississinawa Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mississinawa Valley is on a five-game streak of home wins, Arcanum a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Tri-Village, they will head out on the road to face off against Ansonia at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ansonia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Tri-Village is ranked 140th).
