The North Panola Cougars entered their tilt with the Coahoma County Red Panthers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. North Panola slipped by Coahoma County 54-53 on Friday. That's two games straight that North Panola has won by exactly a single point.
Coahoma County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Hearns, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hearns set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Harlem Bell, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
North Panola's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Coahoma County, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Panola will stay at home for another game and welcome Holly Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Coahoma County will take on Grenada at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grenada focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
